Hanging out at Driv

Let me just take this chance to thank Studentsamfunnet driv (the student society of Tromsø) for their amazing effort of providing us students with 3 (!) sound-proof rooms for practicing and recording music. Yesterday, I had the chance to hang out with my friend Marius and experiment with my new mobile setup, which I will use for recording vocals and other instruments.

We played some songs each of us have written and did some random jamming. I am pleased to say that the new setup worked perfectly, and that I am now ready to start working on my projects again.

Go figure, genocide, war, censorship and assassinations are not all that popular it seems. So then the populist rises. The ++

Last Wednesday I had the privilege to host my very first full-length concert at Prelaten in Tromsø. With me in my band I had Henrik, Vegar and Sam, like last time, and they absolutely killed it. But I wasn't the only one to play, as Sam was able to enroll two other talented artists for the concert, filling the line-up. Ragnar Teisrud and Håkon Johnsen impressed with their solo performances, making it easy for me to sit down and appreciate the music before I was to hit the stage myself. Sam himself had three songs to offer, most notably Monkey Says Monkey Do, so we opened by playing those, before the solo artists went on. I had the chance to play the bass guitar in a band for the first time, which was surprisingly fun. We got some monkey sounds from the audience, so I am pretty sure they were happy to see us monkeying about on stage. Masters and Masterings

One of the most important things in life is the feeling of mastering something, having mastered something. In my case, I've had something mastered for me by a talented guy called Sivert Henriksen, who also mixed three of my songs on my upcoming EP, which will be consisting of 5 songs. They are ready, and you can listen to the three mixed by Henriksen over at soundcloud.com/sivertmartin . Masters are all the rage for me as I start writing my masters thesis this fall, finally seeking to end my life as a student at the university. I'll be writing about Open Access, something that will hopefully be the norm for all of our science in the future. My music though, will be available in a service that, for now, is accessible to everyone: Spotify.
