Gåsvær

This weekend I had the honour of playing for the participants of an environmental weekend at Gåsvær, a small island just outside of Kvaløya. After we had a little seminar where we talked about a sharing economy and what it entails, I got to play 5 songs in front of an audience of about 40. It was a nice little event. No mikes or PA, just me and the ol' guitar, which I actually borrowed from the university chaplain. Real nice of him, that way I didn't have to bring my own, which could have been quite cumbersome considering that I already had brought just enough to carry.

The concert found place at the Gåsvær chapel, and while I'm not religious myself, I have to say, I really appreciate the reverb these small chapels produce when music is played. The locale definitely added a great deal to the concert.

For the rest of the day, we picked up garbage from the shores and hills of the island, discussed the environment and hung out and had a good time. We even had a bonfire session with Norwegian songs when the darkness fell. And since someone found a football among the garbage and some nets and some planks, we made ourselves a football goal and played some football.

You know, it was all about giving and sharing and recieving and... no, that's Joey. But it kinda was!
